Would part of my book be banned?

This week has been Banned Books Week, so on Facebook and Twitter many authors, publishers, and booklovers have posted lists of classic banned books and instances of censorship. Looking through some of the poetry in my book, I do take on some sober subjects. Which parts of my poetry collection do you think would be banned, if people like those in the Third Reich had their way?

Baggage and That Memorable Crucible

Below is a stanza of one of the poems in my new collection. “That Memorable Crucible” captures quite a few emotions from a certain point in my life.

Under the baking hot sunrays of the land,

In that day gloomy and distressing and eventful,

To the motor park I headed,

With me, my bags, and baggages,

Sprightly and gaily I walked,

Like a debutante from Mars,

The journey to a city about to make.

What baggage do you take with you wherever you go?

A Smile and Other Emojis

Since more than 250 new emojis were released this summer, I’ve decided to share with you a poem called “With a Smile on My Face” from my new collection.

Little by little, the sun will set

Lowered by the mind but always remembered.

With a smile on my face will I always remember you?

I will always remember your words, thoughts, and actions

With a smile on my face.

My face, my face, my face. Yes, my face!

I remember the last hours we spent together at your place.

You said words I hated, but with a smile I now remember

The ones you said to me, the ones you meant and joked with.

Oh yes! God knows I really loved you,

Will always – really, always – remember you with a long smile on my face.

Like the one Saddam Hussein wore on his face

When he learnt of the Allied attack on his people.

The type the Allies displayed after the successful destruction of terrorists of this world.

What are your thoughts? I’d love your feedback on this piece.

Life’s struggles, triumphs, courage, and victory

Life Through the Mirror: Experience takes you through the mind of the author in relation to life’s many troubles and through the mirror of life, telling a story of struggles, triumphs, courage, and victory in the storms of life.

As a single mother who tasted the bitterness of life both as a child and an adult, it behoves me to tell my story through poems of expression flowing from the pen to help others in and out of similar situations in life.

Right from the onset of this collection you can sense my determination to succeed even amongst the thorns of life. The book is a family entertainment journal which is very suitable for every family member and friend. I writes my stories in poetic language which portrays every aspect of human life. I makes reading easy by humor in the face of distress, making even serious matters of the heart, life, and existence lighter for us to survive.

Basically, the poems give voice to millions of people out there who may be voiceless, ignored, rejected, or abandoned by those who are supposed to listen and love them. This is for all of you.
